William J. Gleason

On April 5th, 2015 Billy Gleason, 73, ended his five year battle against cancer at home with his family at his side. A lifelong Bayonne resident, Billy repaired cars at his garage on 20th street for many years and retired from the Bayonne Police Department in 1994. He coached baseball, softball and soccer, was a cub scout leader, and was the "go to guy" for any kid who needed a bike fixed, fishing line untangled, or soccer ball inflated. Billy loved his 1986 ½ Nissan pick up truck. Billy is predeceased by his daughter Jodi Ann Gleason: parents, Martin and Elizabeth (Allen) Gleason; brother Thomas Gleason; and a sister Mildred "Sis" Correnti. Billy is survived by: His wife - Joyce (Polack) Gleason, retired Lt. B.P.D. His children Erin Patrick and his wife Becky Brian and his partner Shawn Chapman Allan Warren and his fiancé Niaja Lynch Shannon and her fiancé Nikki Lee Shaun and his wife Jeannine William "Billy" Jr. and his partner Cathy Cooper His sister - Ruth Smith (Whittier, CA) His brother - Martin "Bub" and sister-in-law Monique (Ocala, FL) His brother-in-law - Jack Powers and sister-in-law Peggy Kelly Eight grandchildren His nephew - Marty Correnti and his wife Kim As well as numerous other nieces & nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Dzikowski, Pierce, and Levis Funeral Home, 24 East 19th Street, Bayonne, NJ (201-436-4408) on Thursday, April 9th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a eulogy Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Friday April 10th at 10:00 The funeral procession will travel to the chapel at Rosehill Crematory, Route 1 North, Linden, NJ followed by a repast at Amici's Restaurant, 184 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ.
