Stella Pustay, nee Brzostowski, passed peacefully in her sleep at Peace Health Hospital in Eugene, OR on October 24, 2016. She was born in Bayonne, NJ on March 25, 1921 and married Eugene Pustay on June 25, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Catherine. She lived in Bayonne until moving to Eugene in August of 2016. Stella worked at a variety of jobs. Her favorite was one of her first at the Dixon Pencil Factory in Jersey City. Her main career was at the US Naval/Army Base for the Naval International Logistics Office and Military Sealift Command. After 30 years of service she retired in 1986. In addition to her parents and husband, Stella was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Montague, Lottie Pogorzelski, Mary Schmidt and Jean Lewko and her brothers Chester, Bill, Teddy, Walter and Ed. She was the last living of the 10 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Anderson, Audrey Hrynyk and her husband, Stan, and her son, Eugene. Her grandchildren are Mark, Kyle and Kevin. Her great grandchildren are Ella Kate, Alivia Jo, Mason and Leyton all of Eugene, OR. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Stella was independent and determined. Until she moved to Oregon, she lived alone and enjoyed taking the bus to Atlantic City to play the penny machines, strolling down the Boardwalk, sitting by the ocean and talking to the passersby. She cherished her time with her grandkids and her time watching her great grandkids play at the park. On sunny days, she could be found sitting on the porch, relaxing, watching the world go by and working on her tan. She loved her granddogs and they loved her. No one was ever a stranger to her, she talked to everyone. The happiness of others always came before her own. She was a selfless, caring woman who was very much loved by her family and friends. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Stella's life at the Dzikowski, Pierce and Levis Funeral Home, 24 East 19 Street, Bayonne, NJ on Wednesday November 16, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint John Paul II Parish in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street on Thursday November 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Stella was a lover of animals. In lieu of flowers donations in Stella's memory may be made to Green Hill Humane Society, 88530 Green Hill Road, Eugene, OR 97402, (www.green-hill.org) OR SevaDog, 90558 Alvadore Road, Junction City, OR 97448, (www.sevadog.org).
