Rita R. Weaver, 81, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 with her family at her side. Rita was a middle and high school teacher with the Maplewood, NJ, board of education for 45 years prior to her retirement in 1994. Prior to teaching in Maplewood she had also taught in Holy Family Academy, Bayonne. Rita graduated from Bayonne High School then attended St. Peter's and Jersey City State College before attending Seton Hall University where she graduated with a Masters in U.S. History in 1962. Rita Was a member of the N.J.E.A. and Saint Mary's Church Rosary Society. She was also an avid Mets fan, book reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Rita was predeceased by her parents, Joseph & Rose (nee Sisk) Weaver; siblings, James Weaver and Joyce Ponik; and a niece Christine. She is survived by a brother, Robert Weaver; nieces & nephews, Michael, Daved, Rosemarie, George and Rosellen. Grand-nieces & nephews Erin, Dylan, Casey and Christopher; and great-great nieces, Sadie and Riley Visitation will take place at the Dzikowski, Pierce and Levis Funeral Home, 24 East 19th Street, Bayonne on Tuesday (today) April 25th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 26thth from the funeral home at 9:00 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich Parish Saint Mary Star of the Sea Church, 326 Avenue C, Bayonne. Final prayers will follow at the Chapel in Rosehill Crematory, Route 1 North, Linden.
