Raymond Arszulowicz Obituary

It is with deepest sympathy that I announce the death of Raymond M.  Arszulowicz.  He was 70 years old.

He had a very accomplish life.  He graduated Mt Carmel Grammar School, Marist High School and Seton Hall University.  He graduated with a BS degree in Mathematics Education.

He began his teaching career at Kearny High school and moved on to North Bergen High School.  He continued his teaching career as a Mathematics teacher.  While at Bayonne High School he was a Boys Soccer Assistant Coach and initiated the Girls Soccer program and served as its Coach for many years.  He always made sure that each of the students trying out for the team became a member. In 2004, he received, along with his wife, A Night of a Thousand Stars Award.  In 2007, he received the Schools Volunteer Award for Bayonne High School from the Board of Education. He also served as Class Advisor in 1996, 2002, and 2004.  Ray also served as Co Advisor for Student Council. He retired from dedicated service in 2006.  His goal was to challenge his students.

Early on in his life, he loved sports.  He enjoyed bowling and received many accolades.  He continued his passion for sports by watching the NY Yankees, NY Giants, Horse Racing and of course, Seton Hall Men’s Basketball.  As a result, he was a member of the SHU Booster Club.  He enjoyed many trips to away games and the lively basketball conversations with his fellow members.  He was also a member of the SHU Alumni Association, SHU Pirate Blue and an NJASC member.

Raymond was very dedicated to Polish Heritage.  He was a Member of the Polish American Congress, Bayonne Chapter.  He served as its secretary in 1982.  He was so excited when we finally had an opportunity to visit Krakow, Poland.

He is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Laura (Jalowski) Arszulowicz, Edward and Margaret Jalowski (Aunt and Uncle), Francis and Mary (Jalowski) Murphy (Aunt and Uncle) and Bart Jalowski (Cousin).

Raymond is survived by his loving wife Christina, celebrating 26 years of a wonderful married life this past April.  In addition, he is survived by his brother Stanley and sister-in-law Arlene (Maciak), sister Victoria (Arszulowicz) and brother-in -law Richard Krezonis, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Francis and Kathryn Dzubeck, cousins Edward and Lina Jalowski, Nick and Nancy Jalowski, Paul and Kelly Jalowski, Lorraine and Dr. Edward Jackowski and Dr. Robert and Barbara Boehm. Raymond was a devoted Uncle to Rose Arszulowicz, Caroline and her husband Daniel Schermond, and Mary and her husband Michael Andrews.  He was loving Great Uncle to Natalie and Benjamin Schermond and Calvin and Grace Andrews.

He is also fondly remembered my many friends, BHS Colleagues, students, ans soccer athletes.

As many people who new Raymond that Christmas was his favorite holiday.  He was an avid Santa Claus Collector.  He always said that the spirit of Christmas was not one day a year but, every 25th of the month.  As Dickens said, “Keep the spirit of Christmas in your heart always.”
