Marian R. (Trevena) Ussery Obituary

Marian Rose Ussery (nee Trevena) a lifelong resident of Bayonne was called to the Lord on September 13, 2014. She was born to the late Gordon & Anna (Murphy) Trevena in October of 1941. Marian grew up on West 10th St, attended St Mary Star of the Sea grammar school and Holy Family Academy. She went to work for the telephone company in Jersey City along with her very best friend of 61 years, Patricia (Hayes) Potter. It was during this time that Marian met the Love of her Life, Jasper (Jim) Ussery. Marian was a stay at home mom for many years and returned to the working force when Jim had injured his back. She found a position and worked for Jersey Printing Company until the closed the business. Before she became ill she was working as Home Health Aid for Bayonne Visiting Nurses. You may remember Marian from the 5th Street Deli - always a smile and a kind word. Marian was a deeply religious woman, she was a Catechist who was involved with Special Needs. She also spread Jesus' words of love to other children enrolled in the St Andrew's CCD program for many years. Marian was predeceased by her loving parents, Gordon & Anna and her beloved husband, Jasper. She leaves behind 4 children & 8 grandchildren: her oldest daughter, Donna and Richard Christensen, along with their son Ryan of Bayonne; her only son, Robert and Eileen (Davis) Ussery along with their 2 children Kevin and Jamie of York, SC, her daughter Patricia King along with her 3 children, Colleen, Michael & Allison of Waterbury, CT and her "baby" Carolyn Illick along with her two sons, Trevor & Noah of St Cloud, FL, Marian is also survived by her only sibling, her brother Thomas and his wife Irene (Benson) Trevena, along with their daughter, Melissa; by a host of other brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces & nephews from the South, where her husband Jim was from, especially the Deberry Family; and her dearest and closest friend, Mary (Zurawski) also known as Sue Cioffo along with her husband Vinnie and their two sons; Her best friend, Patricia (Hayes) and her husband David Potter and their friendship lasted for 61 years. Visitation will be at the Dzikowski, Pierce & Levis Funeral Home, 24-32 East 19th Street, Bayonne, NJ on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm; Friday, September 19, 2014 2:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral will be on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home. A Roman Catholic Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St Andrew's Church, 125 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ 07002. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St Andrew's Food Pantry 125 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ 07002 in memory of Marian R. Ussery.
