John C. Burti Obituary
John C. Burti of Bayonne passed away on Thursday April 24, 2014 at the age of 84. He was born and raised in Jersey City prior to moving to Bayonne 54 years ago. He retired from Westinghouse Elevator Company in Jersey City after 27 years of employment, then worked as a custodian for the Bayonne Board of Education for 10 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Burti was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans, Catholic War Veterans, Bayonne Downtown Seniors, Young at Heart Seniors, and the Concerned Citizens of Bayonne. John was an avid fan of the Yankees, Giants, Rangers, Knicks as well as a season tickets holder for the Giants over 50 years. He also enjoyed music, bowling and dancing. Mr. Burti was predeceased by his son, John A. Burti. He is survived by his beloved wife for 54 years to Angie (nee Mazzilli) Burti; father of Gina Gold & her husband Harris, Julie Ritornaro, & her husband Joe, Jeni Schauer & her husband Pete; brother of Ann Segno and Rose Fiore; grandfather of Anthony and Marisa Gold, John A. Jr. (Jake) and Nicolas Burti, Gianna and Joseph Ritornaro, Peter and Matthew Schauer. Also survived by his in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Dzikowski, Pierce & Levis Funeral Home, 24 East 19th Street, Bayonne, NJ. on Monday April 28th from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral will be held on Tuesday April 29th from the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption RC Church, 91 West 23rd Street, Bayonne Entombment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Avenue, Jersey City, NJ In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Alzheimers Association (www.alz.org) Please visit www.dplfh.com for directions and condolence messages.
