George A. Ponik Obituary
George A. Ponik, Jr. of Bayonne passed away on Tuesday August 13, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born in Bayonne and was a lifetime resident. Mr. Ponik was Machinist with Texaco in Bayonne for 33 years prior to his retirement in 1990. He was a Army Veteran of WWII; a long time member of the Atlas Yacht Club in Bayonne; and an Avid Fisherman. George was predeceased by his wife Joyce (nee Weaver) Ponik; son-in-law Thomas Wisniewski; and sister-in-law Fran. He is survived by a son, George R. Ponik & his wife Jacqueline and a daughter Rosellen Wisniewski; sister Dorothy Conti & her husband Paul Sr., Richard Ponik and Raymond Ponik & his wife Joanann; grandchildren, Erin, Dylan and Casey Wisniewski and Christopher Ponik; and a great-granddaughter Sadie Rose Fink. Visitation will be held at the Dzikowski, Pierce & Levis Funeral Home, 24-32 East 19th Street, Bayonne, NJ on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Saint Mary's Star of the Sea, 326 Avenue C, Bayonne at 10:00 a.m. followed by prayer services in the Rosehill Crematory Chapel, Route 1 North, Linden.
