Daniel F. "Buddy" Murphy of Bayonne passed away Monday November 4, 2013 at the age of 93. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII Buddy was a Line Patrolman for Transco Energy Corp. of Linden for 28 years, retiring in 1986. He was also employed by the Bayonne Department of Parks and Recreation for many years as a gym supervisor and T-Ball instructor. He umpired all city softball leagues. Buddy was Don Ahern's "right hand man" on the sidelines of Bayonne High School Football. Over the years he was a member of the Big Ten Club, Ireland 32, Don Ahern Association, Jack Foye Association, and a charter member of the Ahern Scholarship Foundation. Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his wife Tessie (nee Czachur) Murphy; his sisters Edna Sweeney and Gertrude Jablonski and his brothers Michael Murphy and Dennis Murphy. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen Murphy and Marybeth Murphy and son Daniel F. Murphy Jr. and his wife Karen; grandchildren Brian and Andrew Ciencin and Emily and Adam Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Visitation will be at the Dzikowski, Pierce & Levis Funeral Home, 24-32 East 19th Street, Bayonne, on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. The funeral will be Friday from the funeral home at 9:45 am followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10:45 am in St. Andrew The Apostle Church, 125 Broadway, Bayonne. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
