Antoinette "Cookie" (nee Puzzuto) Desio, of Bayonne, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the age of 86. Cookie was born in New York City. She had lived in various parts of the world as she travelled with her late husband Joseph who served for 20 years in the United States Army. Cookie also lived in Astoria, Queens and East Harlem, NY prior to moving to Bayonne over 16 years ago. Cookie was an avid dancer who enjoyed the jitterbug as one of her many favorite dances. She was always fashionable, but never pretentious. She was a member of the Red Hats (where she was known as "Dancing Bee") and the Foxy Ladies, both of Bayonne. Cookie made friends wherever she went. She was always generous and friendly to everyone she met. Everyone loved Cookie! Cookie was predeceased by her husband Joseph V. Desio in 1985; and her brother Joseph Puzzuto. She is survived by her children: Vincent J. Desio & his wife Mary P., Robert P. Desio, and Sarah Marie Rivera; her sister, Mary Ann Murphy; grandchildren: Joseph, Katherine, Dean, Raymond, Patrick, Alexandra, and Richard; great-grandchildren: Steven and Victoria; her niece Sandra and her nephew Charley. Visitation will be at the Dzikowski, Pierce & Levis Funeral Home, 24 East 19th Street, Bayonne, N.J. on Saturday, June 4th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held during the visitation from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Cremation will be private. Mrs. Desio's cremated remains will be interred with her husband in Calverton National Cemetery.
